what are you currently reading?
I read multiple books at once, often in varying genres, because my mood changes and my books reflect specific yearning. To that, I am currently reading Reni Eddo-Lodge's "Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race," Greg McKeown's "Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less" and the English translation by Mark Harman of Rainer Maria Rilke's "Letters to a Young Poet."
which writers do you admire?
I find myself often drawn to writers like J.D. Salinger, Ray Bradbury, Octavia Butler, Marie-Claire Blais, Gwendolyn Brooks, and filmmakers like Charlie Kaufman, Spike Jonze, and Lynn Ramsay (I tend to read the scripts of films I fall in love with; "Her," "Michael Clayton," "Ratcatcher"). Let's not forget non-fiction -- memoir and personal essay. I adore writers like Lydia Yuknavitch ("Chronology of Water"), Miriam Toews, Heather Havrilesky, Susan Sontag, Roxanne Gay ("Difficult Women"), and Joan Didion.
how come you have an faq when no one knows who you are?
If you already are what you want to become then the road to what you want to be is much more of an adventure than a question you may never have the answer to.
What are you currently watching?
I have committed to watching more shows that will aid in flourishing my creative endeavours, and less shows that encourage me to eat mindlessly from chip bags and fall asleep on the couch. That being said, I did recently watch Floribama Shore (part research, part curiosity). More notably, I've been enjoying Sweetbitter, Barry, and watching The Sopranos for the first time. Also Annihilation and Hereditary (until the v end) on the big screen.
describe all the ways you love pizza.
I adore the many forms pizza can manifest. I found my favourite pizza in Florence on a whim - mushroom olive oil. My mother and I spent 4 hours trying to find the place the next day so I could eat it again before we left. I found the worst pizza in a cardboard box from the corner store, frostbitten and chewy, but still lovely... because it was pizza. I've loved all the pizza in between. Right now I especially adore gluten-free dough -- handmade or out on the town. Toronto has some real knockouts: Apiecalypse Now, Buddha Pizza Pie, Pizzaria Libretto, even Pizza Nova is alright!
why are you so weird?
You'll never make a difference in the world if you're a mirror image of it. So back off.
